This 10-part presentation walks you through everything a new Ledger® user needs to know to log into Ledger® Live, secure a device, and manage crypto safely. It contains clear headings (H1–H5), concise step-by-step instructions, practical tips, and recommended timings for a 10-slide live demo or training session.
Important: Never share your recovery phrase. Ledger® staff will never ask for it. Prepare by updating Ledger® Live to the latest version and making sure your device firmware is up to date.
Visit the official Ledger® website to download Ledger® Live. Choose the desktop or mobile version depending on your device. After installation, open Ledger® Live and follow on-screen prompts for initial setup. Create a new wallet or restore from your recovery phrase if you already have one.
Always download Ledger® Live from the official Ledger® domain and verify the app’s digital signature where available.
Connect your Ledger® device to your computer or pair via Bluetooth (if supported). Open Ledger® Live and choose “Get started”. Select whether you are setting up a new device or restoring. Follow the device screen instructions to confirm your PIN and initialize the device.
Create a strong PIN on the device. Never use obvious sequences like 1234. Confirm the PIN directly on the hardware device’s screen to avoid malware interception.
When the device generates your 24-word recovery phrase, write it down on the provided recovery card. Store backups in a safe, offline location — ideally multiple geographically separated places. Never take photos or store the phrase digitally (not in cloud storage, email, or password managers unless they are offline encrypted vaults you control).
Ledger® Live supports many blockchains. To add accounts, go to the “Accounts” tab, click “Add account,” select the currency, and follow the prompts while keeping your Ledger® device connected. Each account created is a view of funds controlled by your device’s keys.
Only add accounts you plan to use frequently to keep your interface tidy. Use the Manager app to install blockchain apps on your device as required for specific currencies.
To receive funds, select the account, click “Receive,” and verify the address on your device. To send, click “Send,” enter the recipient address and amount, then validate details on the hardware wallet before confirming. Always double-check the recipient address on the device screen to avoid clipboard malware pitfalls.
Ledger® Live will suggest network fees — adjust if you’re comfortable. Confirm the fee and expected network confirmations before approving on the device.
Keep your firmware and Ledger® Live updated. Use strong passwords for your device and computer. Beware of phishing emails that mimic Ledger® branding; always verify URLs and never enter your recovery phrase anywhere. Use a dedicated machine for high-value activity when possible, and consider multi-signature or additional cold storage for larger holdings.
If Ledger® Live doesn’t detect your device, try reconnecting the cable, using a different USB port, or restarting the app. Check for firmware updates via the Manager and follow official Ledger® support if necessary.
Ledger® Live provides staking for select assets, a Manager for installing apps, and integrations with partner services. Only enable integrations you trust and understand, and review permissions carefully. For staking, review lockup periods and slashing risks before delegating.
Keep a log of transaction IDs and account names for tax and audit purposes. Ledger® Live allows exporting history as CSV for bookkeeping.
